What types of healthcare professionals do you provide?

Categorisation of Healthcare Service Providers (HCSP) in Nursing:

We offer three levels of nursing care based on patient needs:

A) Medical Attendants:
Provide physical support and assist with activities of daily living like feeding, bathing, and mobility.

B) Basic Nursing:
Diploma holders or ANM nurses with basic medical knowledge. They can handle medications, support daily living, and some senior nurses in this category can manage tube feeding and catheter care.

C) ICU-Trained Nurses:
Diploma holders or ANM nurses with prior ICU care experience. They are trained to handle ventilation equipment, suction, tracheostomy care, catheters, tube feeding, and administer enteral medications.

How much does one month's service cost?

The charges vary based on each patient’s needs, as we follow a customised billing model. The final amount is determined after an initial assessment and counselling by our clinical coordinator.

Are you a registered company?

Yes, we are a registered company in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

When do I have to sign the consent form?

The consent form will have to be signed before any medical services can begin. A soft copy will be sent to your email address.

What services do you offer?

Does the doctor visit the patient during an emergency?

Doctors usually visit patients as per the scheduled appointments. However, in case of an emergency or if the doctor feels the patient requires immediate medical attention, the patient will be shifted to a hospital.

What should I do if I want to terminate the services?

If services are to be terminated for any reason other than the patient’s demise, a minimum notice period of one week is required. Please refer to the general consent form for detailed terms and conditions regarding service termination.

How long does home health care last?

The duration of care depends on the patient’s medical condition and recovery needs.

What should I expect from my home health care?

The caregiver will regularly monitor your condition, ensure you take your prescribed medications, and help you follow your rehabilitation procedures (if any). The caregiver will also stay in touch with your doctor to keep them informed about your progress. The caregiver may be with you throughout the day or visit frequently, so ensure you feel at ease in their presence.

How do people pay for home health care?

Home healthcare services are billed based on the number of days the service is provided. You can always check with your home healthcare provider for detailed information about the payment procedure.

Why would someone use home health care?

Home health care offers a wide range of medical services that can be provided in the comfort of your home for an illness, injury, or chronic condition. It is typically more affordable, convenient, and just as effective as the care provided in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Home health care helps minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections during extended recovery or rehabilitation periods.

Who do we contact in case of doubts or emergencies?

For any medical concerns, you can directly contact the doctor assigned to the patient. Additionally, you will be provided with a set of contact numbers for our support staff, who will address troubleshooting issues and escalate them to the office when necessary.

What should we do in case of an emergency?

Do you have specialist doctors?

Yes, we have specialist doctors available for video consultation. Appointments with them must be scheduled at least four days in advance.

Who are Physician Assistants?

Physician Assistants are experienced senior nurses who act as a bridge between nursing staff, patients and doctors. They make periodic visits to monitor the patient’s progress, reducing the need for frequent doctor visits and helping manage costs.

How do I know if my caregivers or nurses are qualified?

All our Home Care Service Providers (HCSPs) undergo a thorough interview process to assess their skills and capabilities. Based on this evaluation, we assign appropriate nursing levels. These details are explained during counselling by our clinical coordinators before services begin.

Do you provide medicines?

Yes, we can arrange and deliver prescribed medicines directly to your home as part of our service. There are no additional service charges for this. While we strive to provide the best value, any applicable discounts are determined by the partnering pharmacy and may vary.

Do you provide lab services?

Yes, we offer laboratory services through our tie-up with certified, reputable laboratory companies for all investigations. The cost of these tests will be included in your monthly bill from NORMS, with no additional service charges.

Do you provide 24-hour services?

Yes, we provide 24-hour nursing and attendant services, managed in 12-hour shifts by two staff members. Doctor visits are scheduled in advance, but in case of urgent queries, doctors are available for phone consultations.

Do you offer emergency and ambulance services?

Currently, we do not provide emergency calls or ambulance services directly. However, we coordinate with your primary hospital to arrange ambulance services in case of an emergency.

Will the same caregiver or nurse be assigned each time?

Yes, we aim to assign the same HCSP team for the continuity of care.

Do you send replacement staff if needed?

In case an HCSP is unable to report for duty, we will arrange a suitable replacement promptly.

Can I change the category of healthcare services provided?

Any changes to the type or level of healthcare services must be approved by the doctor in charge of the patient.

What is the billing cycle?

The billing cycle can be structured in several ways, depending on your preference and service plan :

  • Weekly : Payments are processed at the end of each week.
  • Monthly : Billing can follow either a calendar month (1st to 31st) or a custom monthly cycle (25th to 24th of the following month).
  • Bi-monthly (Prepaid) : Payments are made in advance for two months.
How and when will I receive my bills from NORMS?

Bills are sent to your registered email address between the 1st and 5th of every month. If you require a hard copy, it can be couriered to you along with a payment receipt once your payment is received.

How can I make a payment?

Payments can be made via cheque, bank transfer, or cash. Please note that for cash payments exceeding ₹2 lakhs, you will need to provide your PAN number as per the regulations of the Income Tax Department.

Why do you collect a security deposit for services?

The security deposit acts as a refundable safeguard for the services and equipment provided as part of your home healthcare. This deposit will be adjusted against your final bill at the time of service termination.

How is the amount of the security deposit calculated?

Once the required services and equipment are finalised for the patient, a projected bill is prepared for approximately 40 days—this covers one month of services plus an additional 10 days, accounting for bill payment timelines.

Do I pay the caregiver, nurse, or doctor directly?

No, payments should not be made directly to any HCSP, including doctors. In cases where there’s a one-time visit by an HCSP, our office will inform you of the exact amount to be handed over. A receipt for such payments will be sent to you by email or courier.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Currently, most insurance companies do not cover home health care services. However, we recommend that you check with your insurance provider to see if they offer coverage for domiciliary care.
